WRITING LAB: ONE-ON-ONE
The NPR-KU Writing Lab caters to all students who need additional help with their writing. Students can walk in to the General Education Studies office to schedule a time and receive help or additional information; students can make an appointment to work with the writing lab director on current or future writing assignments, during lab operating hours. Students are also referred to the writing lab by their professors. When a student leaves the writing lab they will receive a stamped document advising their professors of what their students worked on during their time in the lab. Students who make an appointment will receive an appointment slip for a future date.
Students can utilize the writing lab for a myriad of reasons:
• Assistance with written homework assignments • Essays (Expository, Informative, Reflective, Argumentative, etc.) • Research Papers • College Essays • Help with writing timed essays • Formatting (MLA, APA) • Organization • Creating sentence types and using proper transitions • Proper word usage • Proper Thesis, Body and Conclusion writing • Navigation of sites for research
The Writing Lab is hosted by the Office of the Dean and General Education Studies. Its director is Dr. Barbara Lee. The lab is tentatively open from 1 to 7 p.m. (Monday - Thursdays) during each semester, year-round, or by appointment. Dr. Lee will have the final say each term, based on her course load. The Writing Lab is located in front of the library, on the second floor of the KU-NPR campus.
